The Lisbon Library Network was created in 1883.
With more than a century, BLX now have 18 Libraries distributed throughout the city of Lisbon, including an Itinerant Library.
Over the years, these equipments have taken on a more active and critical position to respond to the challenges of the new century.
Today, BLX are the voice of communities.
In its buildings, several old restored palaces, generations, interests and expectations cross: the joy of children, the irreverence of young people, the professional needs of adults or the tranquility of older people.
They have space for books, but also for business, art, music and experimental laboratories.
They are the 21st century libraries, where ideas are taken off the shelf, prejudices are disrupted and communities are united.
