A window to the city
Located in the Portugal Pavilion, the António Mega Ferreira Library is a local cultural facility that opened its doors to the city on 22 May 2025.
This facility houses the personal library of António Mega Ferreira, which was donated following a memorandum of understanding signed on 22 May 2023 by his heirs, Lisbon City Council, the Parque das Nações Parish Council, and the University of Lisbon.
As this is a heritage collection, access is restricted to the library. This allows curious minds and scholars to learn more about António Mega Ferreira, who is recognised as one of the greatest Portuguese intellectuals of recent decades, as well as one of the figures who has done the most to revitalise the country in his field. He was committed to individual freedom and to the social and cultural education of the people.
In addition to its own collection, this space displays many works published during EXPO 98 in collaboration with the EXPO 98 Interpretation Centre. The Centre is managed by the Parque das Nações Parish Council and is also located in the Portugal Pavilion.
Open 24 hours a day, this space is intended for reading, studying and working, and hosts cultural programming in conjunction with the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon and the Expo 98 Interpretation Centre.
